Strapped for cash!

Just a very quick post to say that I have lots of items on ebay at the moment, because I'm saving for a holiday with the girls, so if you happen to come on my blog, have a look because there might be something that takes your fancy :)

Charlie Fink - Can I marry your voice?

I've been listening to Noah And The Whale a lot recently. I used to be a huge fan and then for some reason I stopped listening to them, maybe it's because after a while their songs can sound quite depressing. By that I dont mean really dreary and horrible, just quite sad, and can give a feeling of nostalgia. But I hadn't really listened to the album The First Days Of Spring, which is actually full of hope and so peaceful. Charlie Fink's voice is so beautiful. I'm going to buy their new album, with Life Goes On etc on it.
I had a busy week at work last week, non stop shifts involving running around frantically with arms full of plates, however I did earn myself a nice lump of money so I'm going to treat myself to some new music, Noah And The Whale is top of my list, along with Two Door Cinema Club and Hurts.
This is a t-shirt my boyfriend got me off ebay. I love the print and when I got it it was a very long sort of tunic thing, which was quite hard to wear with anything apart from leggings, so I did a bit of DIY and cut it into a cropped t-shirt which I now love, and can wear with skirts, as opposed to before when I tried to tuck it in and achieved the lumpy roll of fat look because it was so long! My plait is so short here, I really want my hair to grow but I swear it stays the same length, or possibly 1mm a year. PFFFT.

Outfit #2 and charity shop finds

These are some photos of what I was wearing when I went out for my very belated work christmas meal. We didn't actually do anything christmassy just went an indian restaurant, which was probably a good job really because everyone there would have hated us. It was a lovely night out, finished off with a round of free sambouka shots from the nice indian men and free round of drinks from our boss back at the pub. Naww.

Jacket - Levi's, Rokit
Top - Topshop
Skirt - H&M
Necklaces - Vintage and Topshop
Ring - Topshop
Brooch - Vintage

So last week I went to visit my slightly loopy but lovable great aunt in her nursing home in Exmouth. She used to live in a town called Budleigh and we went to her house to collect post and what not, aaand I had a look in the local charity shops. They were an absolute gold mine of amazing jumpers and cardigans, my theory is that because the town is so over run with 80+ grannies and grandads, that there is nobody like me to snatch up all the vintage finds! Definitely going there for another hunt when we see her next! Anyway, I bought three jumpers (and had to restrain to not buy more, but also if I had bought more I dont think the ancient woman at the till would have coped with the even longer receipt she just couldn't understand..) They were a mere £3 each and I have worn them all since, especially the dark green one which the camera really doesn't do justice.

I found these lovely bags on the urban outfitters website, in the renewal bit. I love the renewal stuff they do but it is bloody expensive for just altered charity shop type things. But hey ho, I love the cat print on the bottom one and the floral is cute too. But I am partial to cats, I think I may grow old and be one of those ladies who has a million cats and doesn't talk to anyone. Mow.

Outfit #2

I have realised I have been really bad with putting on outfits, so before I went out for a meal with the boy tonight I took some photos (well he did, aw) This isn't the most inventive or colourful outfit, but lets face it, my style isn't exactly colourful. I have had this jumper for ages and hardly ever wore it, so thought it was high time to get it out of the wardrobe. I felt a bit preppy in this outfit, probably because of the grey jumper, tights and socks - grey love!

Jumper - Zara
Shorts - Vintage Levi's
Tights - Tesco
Socks - Mum's
Brogues - Topshop
Rings - Topshop
Necklaces - Vintage
Nails - Grace Green, Models Own

Models Own - I bow down to you

I have noticed that I don't write very much when it comes to blogging, mostly because I never have the time and usually I'm just blogging about trivial stuff like clothes and what not. However I have decided on a belated new years resolution, to not just use my blog as a means to moan about all the things I cant afford (blah) which has been the main focus since I actually started keeping up with it and not leaving about a year in between posts, but to sort of treat it like a diary and write more about me etc. Except not the really cringey diary type stuff you used to write when you were 12, speaking of which, I found my old diary the other day and it is horrific! I blab on about fancying Gareth Gates and Ben from A1. Bloody hell. So yeah, I need to write more, starting from now! (Ok tomorrow, Im too tired right now, plus I need a new layout, I'm bored of this one)

Also, yummy nail varnishes! I just bought Utopia nail varnish from Models Own website and got a free Kohl pencil with it :) Having bought one I now want them alllll! A few of my favourites are Peach Puff, Beths Blue, Grace Green and Nude Beige. Plus there is a lovely coral lipstick I would like. Bit of a pastel whore me.. Perhaps next weeks wages can be spent on that website instead of petrol; I need to walk everywhere more anyway..

Daisy Knights

One day when I was bored I flicked through mum's You magazine and found a little piece on jewellery designer Daisy Knights, a graduate from Central St Martins (one of the most impossible art uni's to get into..somehow I have applied, madness I know) Anyway, when I went onto her website I fell in love. She creates delicate rock and roll esque pieces from a variety of metals and her jewellery has been seen on the likes of Alexa Chung. Despite the skulls adorned on many of her pieces, all of her jewellery is handmade in the UK using ethically sourced materials. I love it! Unfortunately it's a little out of my price range (little being an understatement) and also my birthday is a long long way away, but I can hope! Maybe when I'm older and richer..

I should have been born a few decades ago..

I love old film photos, I've always loved the quality they give, it's a quality that digital can't beat, no matter what. Don't get me wrong I love my DSLR but I prefer film by a long way. The grainy, de saturated look is just so lovely and aged. These are some photos I found on which is a site full of other peoples snaps, from art to fashion to photography. It's a brilliant source of inspiration but there are never ending photos, when you are looking through it gives you a feeling of frustration, that you are probably missing tonnes of amazing ones, but nobody in there right mind would have the patience to sift through the thousands...well unless you had no life..

Finally, outfit #1

Ooh I'm a happy girl, I ordered these Levi shorts from Rokit the other day and they have ARRIVED :) I've been wanting a really old vintage pair for ages, and these have lovely ripped edges and I like the dark denim. I also bought this cardi from Topshop which I love, and have had this vintage scarf for ages but never worn it as a headscarf before, I think it works quite well! The round pendant necklace is vintage and the little shell one is from Topshop. My belt is also vintage and the t-shirt is guessed it, Topshop. I really need to stop spending all my money in there..
